The workshop begins with detailed instruction defining the complex controls and loading logistics of the 16mm device. Using the iPad as a mobile art studio, participants create their own digital works of fine art using a combination of drawing and painting apps. Baltimore artist Mandy McMahan leads the class with interactive, step-by-step approaches. Mandy has conducted iPad seminars and been commissioned to do portraits. Her work has been exhibited at Hamilton Arts Collective and the Art House in Hampden. All ages welcome. Capoeira Workshop w/ Skher Brown
The beautiful dance style and martial art of Capoeira Angola has its roots in the Bantu tradition and was used African slaves in Brazil as a form of revolution. Capoeira gives its practitioners a workout through martial arts and dancing, coupled with playing percussion instruments and singing in Portuguese. Join master teacher Skher. Artist Soledad Salamé is hosting a series of printmaking workshops for small groups of artists in her Reservoir Hill studio. This next workshop will now focus primarily on solar etching, mono print, and embossing where each artist will be encouraged to create a series, or set of prints to compose one strong body of work.  
This opportunity is for every kind of artist interested in building a solid printmaking portfolio of both concept and aesthetic.  We will work with you individually to create this portfolio with enough freedom and guidance for you to enhance your creative language and visual identity.

Workshop Duration:
3 days. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 10 am – 4 pm
Cost:
250$ per day ,per artist.

This workshop will apply aerial play and movement to investigate matriarchal wisdom contained in earth symbols, myths, and artifacts. We will incorporate Nancy Blair’s marvelous series, Amulets of the Goddess, Oracle of Ancient Wisdom, which includes twenty-seven beautifully crafted reproductions of ancient artifacts from the worldwide Goddess traditions to incorporate feminine spirit in everyday life. Class will be augmented by discussion, journaling, and physical conditioning. Previous experience is a plus but not required
Aerial Time

Face book, twitter, and social media creates a different way of dealing with time and who we are within electronic forms of connection. As the body leaves the ground the true reality of time and its physical embodiment becomes a very different experience. Through play on low flying aerial apparatus, this workshop will investigate our relationship to time, space and the body. We will experiment with risk, balance, and spatial relationship in order expose the range and power of bringing the body back to its real time physicality. Physical Theater and Mask Performance

Introduction to methods of physical theater and mask technique will be explored to learn how to create characters, physical choices, and honesty in responsive and spontaneous play. We will work with masks from different cultures and focus on physical gesture and the relationship between objects, energy, space, size, shape, and story. Acting Classes with David D. Mitchell will begin the first week in February.
This is a rigorous eight week commitment, but it will definitely leave you fit and prepared for your next dramatic adventure!

THERE ARE TWO COURSE OFFERINGS::

ESSENTIALS OF DRAMA
This class is designed for non-professionals interested in acquiring
basic acting skills. Classes will assist students in developing
techniques they can use for any stage performance. Special attention
will be given to preparing a contemporary monologue, with a
concentration on character motivation, sense memory and text analysis.
All instruction incorporates the teachings of Lee Strasberg (The
Method) and Sandy Meisner. In this class, the actor learns to apply
fundamental acting principles through a progression of exercises that
develop his/her ability to work organically and truthfully. The class
covers such basics as physical and vocal awareness, improvisation,
non-verbal expression, sensory awareness, identifying objectives and
tactics, and the language / vocabulary of the theatre.

ADVANCED SCENE STUDY
This class is designed for professionals and non-professionals
interested in acquiring advanced acting skills. Classes will assist
students in discovering impulse and authenticity. Special attention
will be given to the breakdown and execution of a contemporary scene,
with a concentration on objectives and tactics. The class also
includes advanced text analysis by way of beats and adjustments. All
Instruction incorporates the Meisner Technique as a means of isolating
impulse. The class reinforces such basics as, improvisation, sensory
awareness, and the language / vocabulary of the theatre.

ART EXPOSURE promotes New Class Schedule!

New class schedule-To register, submit completed registration form (from http://www.artexposureinc.com) and payment to Art Exposure–
Afterschool art: Textiles and Weaving-ages 6-10 yrs old. This class fuses weaving, textiles and school beautification. Together we will explore different materials such as yarn, paper, bike tires, fabric, and even plastic bags! Students will learn about traditional weaving techniques and also have the opportunity to explore new experimental methods of textile production. The program will culminate with a collaboratively woven tapestry that will brighten our school’s library. This piece will be made entirely with recycled materials and woven used articles of clothing that the students will bring to class. Our hope is that each woven piece of cloth will tell a story and be a gift to our school! This project is open to students of all skill levels and experience. Wednesdays 1/16/13-3/20/13 (no class 1/23/13) 2:45-4:30pm at Federal Hill Prep, Baltimore, MD 21230. ABOUT DAVID D. MITCHELL…

David, an MFA graduate from The New School for Social Research,
returned to Baltimore in 2005 to work as a full time lecturer at
Morgan State University. Since then he has been a facilitator and
major “catalyst” in bringing together diverse segments of the
performing arts community. David is presently a professor at Goucher College
(Theatre Department) and Coppin State University (Department of Visual
and Performing Arts). He has facilitated and instructed university
and college students in the fundamentals of theater, acting, advanced
acting, speech, and theater history. In 2009 American Theatre Magazine
recognized him as one of 25 artists from across the country to have a
significant impact on theater over the next 25 years. He was also
recognized by Style Magazine as being on the cutting edge of
Baltimore’s small theater movement and Bmore Media dubbed him as one
of Baltimore’s Theater Masterminds.

As the body leaves the ground, the true reality of time and its physical embodiment becomes very clear, specific, physically integrated, and fun. Through play on low flying aerial sculpture and circus apparatus this workshop will investigate our relationship to time, space and the body. We will experiment with risk, balance, and spatial relationship in order expose the range and power of bringing the body back to its real time physicality and devise alternative ways to create movement, connection and time. Provided snack and discussion concludes the workshop.

The Body as an Expressive Frontier; Physical Theater and Mask Performance

This workshop will apply physical acting and mask technique in the exploration of responsive and spontaneous play while creating fully embodied acting choices. We will work with masks from different cultures and study techniques that focus on the relationship of objects, energy, space, size, shape, music, and story, to reveal how these elements transform into physical actions. Whether you are an actor or someone simply interested in physical work, this class will allow you more understanding of the body as an expressive frontier that expands and changes with awareness.

Lose the big shoes, the gags, and the rubber chicken; rid yourself of your clown stereotypes! This class will look at clown in a new light and give you the chance to don the nose yourself. We will enjoy sidesplitting exercises that embrace openness, vulnerability, joyfulness, and PLAY while working physically and dynamically as an ensemble. Challenge yourself to explore performance and humor in a supportive environment. Whether you are a musician, a business owner, a soccer mom, or a high schooler…see how self-discovery through clown will affect your day-to-day, and why laughter truly is the best medicine. Class for ages 12 and up culminating in a small sharing on Feb 16th.
